Toshiba UMPC appears- err, reappears

You may have seen a slick-looking new UMPC from Toshiba that is appearing on the web today and wondered if that thing looked familiar.  You would be correct, Toshiba was exhibiting this MID in January at the CES and we had a chance to play with it for a while.  They were showing two versions of this device, one running Vista and the other Linux.  Here are the photos we took in the Toshiba booth:

That has to be one of the ugliest pieces of hardware that i have ever seen :(

So what is it - a UMPC or a MID?

As for the optics: While I have seen uglier hardware, I really hope they will exchange that shiny "toy robot" surface with a matte black or similar

Ah, and so a strange glimpse of what an iPod Air will bring.

I have to give points for the *on-screen* split keyboard. Freaky but interesting!
