Mogo Mouse is the No-Go Mouse for me

The Mogo Mouse I told you about arrived this afternoon and after a 1 hour charging session I gave it a whirl, something I should have done before fully charging it.  It seems the unit I received is defective as the left mouse button only works intermittently.  The right button works as expected and even makes a very soft clicking noise but the left button doesn't work well at all. After working with it for ten minutes to see if I could loosen the left button up to work properly the kickstand that props the mouse up for use starting collapsing every time I went to use it.  The entire device feels very shoddily put together so it is going back where it came from.  This really surprised me after trying the HP-branded one in the coffee shop the other day so I probably just got a bad one.  Not wanting to repeat this experience tonight I ordered an HP version of the mouse like the one I tried so here's hoping this one will work as expected.  I have to say the form factor is very cool and putting the mouse into the PC Card slot for charging is very handy as it sits flush with the side of the Fuji.  The HP-branded mouse was only $30 at Amazon so it's worth my time to give a new one a try.  I'm not saying that all Mogo Mice will be made like the one I received but it does give me pause given everything that was wrong with it.

Thanks for the warning JK, let us know if the HP one will work with the new scrolling capable drivers.

I installed the Mogo utilities for the scrolling and was astounded to find they are 3rd party apps released for Win95 (yes, really old). All they do is assign macros for certain gestures and screen edges. Really disappointing and pretty bad. Another reason to go with HP instead of Mogo.

You could always just use the trackpad. ;) I haven't used a mouse full time in probably 2+ years now. I do have a nice ergonomic Bluetooth Logitech one, but stutters across the screen. I have a Mighty Mouse too and I hate the feel/shape of it and I hate the marble.

Oh yeah, I also hate the white plastic. Enough already, it's a tired trend. The Mogo does look interesting though, but I can probably do without.

Hi JK,

I took two pieces of advice from you yesterday and ordered a slip case, with extra flap, for my P1610 and a MoGo mouse.

After digging around all of the retailers in the UK that MoGo list on their website the cheapest place was going to cost £49 delivered. I then found the HP branded one on Amazon for £24 delivered so I went for that one.

Hopefully my froogle-ness will pay off given your findings with the MoGo version.

Thanks for the great site and great advice.

Simon

Now that they have scroll software for Windoze, what about Linux?

Hi Again,

My HP version arrived earlier and I'm very happy with it. Its amazingly useable and very handy.

I'm very pleased with my purchase and I recommend one to others.
