Google Calendar now syncs with Outlook, Windows Mobile
At long last, there's finally a native sync solution between Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook. With a small download from Google, you can now sync appointments in a one-way fashion between the two calendar instances or have a full two-synchronization. There's no setup involved: simply download and install the application, enter your Google Calendar credentials, pick one-or two-way synching and specify how often you want the data aligned.
At the moment, this only works with your primary Google calendar and default Outlook calendar. Since everyone in our family puts their events in their own Google calendar, I'm hoping to see support for shared calendars in the future. For the moment however, this solution will allow Windows Mobile owners using ActiveSync and Outlook to take advantage of Google Calendar if they want to. Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

im so pissed just last week i bought syncmycal !

Failing spectacularly for me so far, looks to be syncing but nothing gets passed.
More annoyingly, my Outlook goes down when it syncs. If that is by design then it's useless to me... I keep Outlook up all day and having it just go down every hour is out of the question. Maybe it's because I'm on 2003 still for speed reasons, who knows...
But the premise is great, let's hope I'm just having teething problems.

You have to wonder why Microsoft still hasn't released the rumored addition to the Office Live add-in. There was talk that they would soon be releasing the ability to sync with the Microsoft Live calendar.
Truly, at this point, we're back in the year 2000, where I can't decide who is going to hold my information for me to access. I don't mind stuff automatically syncing my information to multiple places, but where do *I* want to be looking/working with my information. MS gives you the Office Live Add-In so that you'll use their desktop product for your work (obviously a good move for their financial continuance). Google lets me work "in the cloud" complete, but with the ability to be compatible with the MS Products. Now I can use Google Calendar directly synced with Outlook. I could also use Plaxo, 30 Boxes, Basecamp, etc, etc. They all seem to do the same thing (other than Microsoft's multiple choice versions of everything - which is annoying, really). Trying to decide which is "the best for me" seems almost useless these days, since they all do the same thing. It's like I said: it's y2k all over again where everyone was a portal. How about ubiquity and convergence?

This sounded good, but causes Outlook 2007 to crash near the end of the sync on both of my machines.

Exchange is my central point, without question. I don't really need the Google connection since I carry a local copy at all times in a Windows Mobile device, but it could be useful when away from the desk but on a computer... also it's cool. ;) But so far it seems a bit shaky.

The app still needs A LOT of work. It randomy fails to sync calendar events that have more the one occurrence, and happily generates lot of duplicate events.
Wait out until the next generation of this software.
