Apple's iPhone gets Microsoft Exchange support, more
The Apple news is coming hot and heavy out of Cupertino. I've been following along with Engadget's live blog feed and see that Apple did indeed license Microsoft ActiveSync; the next version of iPhone software will natively support over-the-air Exchange synching. That means contacts, e-mails, and calendar events, but no tasks or notes. There's a slew of enterprise support features that come along for the ride, namely WPA2 security for WiFi, remote device wiping and VPN support.
News continues to develop, especially in the area of the iPhone SDK, so stay tuned!

Sounds great but until it runs on Verizon I can't use it. I was wondering though with Verizon's anouncement opening their network to any hardware, would I be able to use the iPhone on the Verizon network?

Not unless you had a CDMA iPhone. ;)

Why no tasks? I get task syncing on WM6

The iPhone doesn't currently have a Task application so there's no place to sync them too. That could change by the time June hits, but for now no Task (or note) synching.

Forget about MID's now. You'll be able to play Super Monkey Ball on the iPhone/iPod Touch.
$100 million iFund to jumpstart development is just.. wow.

Isn't ActiveSync James' favorite application? Maybe he'll give it a second look now that it will actually work. ;)

I *hope* that Apple includes a task application in future ROM versions. Sure, there's RTM, but native is always better imo.

Check out TaskData (http://www.taskdata.mobi) for Exchange task synchronization.
