An expectant geek's least favorite word
Can you spot the word I'm talking about? This one ranks up there with other words and phrases like "delayed", "discontinued", "out of stock", and "sold out". (What others am I missing?) From the tracking deets, it looks like a certain package sat for a full day, which pushes back any unboxing experience into tomorrow. Hurry home, Samwise! Everyone in the The UMPC Shire awaits!

Personally, my least favourite expression is "on back order"
It's always an aaaarghhhhhh moment when I see that !

So does UPS or someone owe you money, since you paid for 2nd Day Air?

I got a "Package not due for delivery" from FedEx. That pissed me off. If they have the package sitting there, just give it to me.

But, yes, on backorder is probably right up there with Rescheduled.

Heh-heh-heh. It took all my available cash to hold up that package, but it was worth it!

I feel your pain! I have been in those situations when waiting for a gadget and getting Rescheduled or Delayed status...
I guess the worst I experienced was when the FedEx Home Delivery had the status "Out for Delivery"; I waited all day and it never came! Instead the Status was updated as Attempted Delivery or Business Closed! I guess the driver decided to go home early (it was Fri). I had to call FedEx and report the driver, as I wasted all day waiting...

Similar to the FedEx story, I was waiting for VZ to send my DSL modem package via UPS and hitting F5 and listening for the doorbell.
Heard door buzzer, hit it, waited for driver to come up. Didn't happen. Hit F5. "Exception".
Driver could *not* wait the 30 seconds it took me to get the door. I get my deliveries very late in the day, likely even the last delivery. Driver in a hurry to go home. I'm
hearing-impaired so I'm extra paranoid about getting the door.
I was wicked pissed! Called the local UPS depot next morning and made damn sure I got it that afternoon!
