Where oh where is the Modbook?
Remember the Modbook, the non-Apple produced Mac Tablet that was vaporware for over a year and then on January 1st of this year was reported to be shipping to customers? So what happened? We should be hearing reports from customers who received theirs and seeing reviews on the web but no, just the sound of silence where the Modbook is concerned. So where are they and has anyone actually received one? I'm just askin'.

Not a lot of people seem to have gotten one, but we do have SOME actual humans who have been willing to share their experience thus far... both with waiting for one AND with actually getting one!
Come on over...

Nice site Amy and one I'll check often. My visit confirmed the purpose behind this post however with only two people reporting they have received their Modbooks a month and a half after OWC notified they were shipping. They aren't going very fast with this.

I saw an I think in this month's print edition of MacWorld, as a point of reference.

If you follow the Order link to Other World Computing and then configure a system there, you will see this message:
"New Orders now expected to ship by (or before) March 31st, 2008."

Mine was scheduled originally to ship Feb 18, and I got an email the other day that said it would now ship March 21. I'm wondering if it's vaporware and will I ever get it. It's very discouraging.

I've got mine
But I'm on the inside
Spent MacWorld standing at the Axiotron booth demoing the ModBook running Vista
Got a lot of funny stares from people

Joseph, does everything including the handwriting recognition work in Vista on the Modbook?

After much agonizing over getting the new HP tx2000 or the modbook, I deceided to go with the mod book because I don't like being forced to use Vista. Also, I won't have to change platforms as I have been using macs for about 22 years. I hope the modbook is as high quality a piece of hardware as it looks, it's twice the price of the HP.
I placed an order on 2/15/08 and received this notice in the confirmation email:
Due to a backorder indicated by our site for item OWCMB22GHZCUS, we estimate this order will ship on or before Monday, Mar. 17 2008. This shipping date estimate is based on the currently available information and is for reference only.

Question concerning Vista
Yes handwriting recognition is done through Vista
When booted into Windows it's a standard PC Tablet
It runs Vista better than my LEI600
And don't forget it's 2 machines for the Price of 1 :-)

Any comments on hand writing recognition in windows [xp tablet Ed. 2005 or Vista) while running in a virtualization program like VMFusion or Parallels?
Can I run MAC OS with XP Tablet Ed. running in a window (yes).... but have the Windows OS utilize the pen?
