Remote control, display a Windows Mobile device with My Mobiler 1.2

Mymobiler12sNeed a free way to remotely control or display a Windows Mobile device on your computer? Consider taking a look at My Mobiler, which just got updated to version 1.2 in the last week. We've used this free, handy application to capture screen shots and even video of devices like the HTC Advantage and it works great. Of course, if you want to capture video of the Windows Mobile screen, you'll need to combine My Mobiler with something like TechSmith's Camtasia Studio or Jing.

This new version adds a great copy/paste feature so you can capture data from either the handheld or the PC and drag it right across using your keyboard and/or mouse. Obviously for the app to work, you'll need Microsoft ActiveSync installed and have your device tethered to the computer as well. My Mobiler supports Windows Mobile devices from version 2003 on up.

Where did you get that background on that screenshot? That's one of the better ones i've seen lately.

Actually, that's a screencap from the MyMobiler site, so they installed it on a Windows Mobile device.

You know what's really cool about the MyMobiler thing? You can run it "Always on Top" on your desktop (which I generally hate in apps, by the way), and if you have a WinMo device, you can watch for phone calls while you have your iPod headphones on! ... while you're sitting in Panera because your car has a misfiring #4 cylinder and it's sitting at the dealership getting fixed.

I installed it earlier today and had problems almost immediately and I really want it to work. Platform: Win Mobile 6, T-Mobile, HST Dash. I couldn't get drag-and-drop to work; after disconnecting the synch cable the phone wouldn't turn on (battery had a full charge) on the road. later, when I reconnected the synch cable, the display came alive and ActiveSync gave me an error message (sorry, didn't record). Most of this is from memory as I was working and didn't have time to troubleshoot, but will try to be more scientific as work with it. I DO hope it's something I carelessly did/missed.
