Skyfire- bringing the real Internet to the Windows Mobile set

Skyfire_espn A new browser technology is set to be presented at the DEMO show this week and it promises to bring the full desktop browsing experience to the Windows Mobile platform.  Skyfire is the browser and it apparently uses Flash along with server-side page rendering to display full web pages on smartphones.  Skyfire will be offered shortly in a private beta and they intend to have a S60 version at some point.  This looks like very cool browser technology and I just signed up for the beta.  Once you sign up they say you'll be notified shortly.  Cool.

Certainly a welcome (and long overdue) product for Windows Mobile devices. It's downright shameful that Microsoft hasn't done anything to improve the browsing experience on the devices. I'm quite happy with my Treo 700wx (and WM) overall, but browsing has always been terribly limited. And worse, it hasn't really improved since I aquired my first Pocket PC based device back in in 2001.

What worries me is the fact that it utilizes it's own portal/proxy reeks of monthly fees. It becomes hard to justify paying an even greater fee every month unless you're receiving a service you'll really use often on the device. I pay a small fee per month to have a proper push-email enabled exchange account, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay much for a better browser experience that I'm still not very likely to use often due to a tiny screen.

Go ahead, James. Put that on the Advantage. Then do a video to post here. Then watch your MBP burst into flames as your Anti-Karma goes through the roof! Mwahahahaha.

this is basically the same that opera have been doing with their opera mini browser for java enabled phones.

what is interesting is the "full flash" support, with apparently no hickups over a evdo connection.

i cant stop wondering if this will support "big screen" browsing, like say about the size of that redfly display?

yes it is a real browser for internet skyfire i am crazy about it..............
