Hi James, Good to see you up - This device would seem to be the opposite of a lessdu. I try to use my lessdu as often as possible. In these coming recessionary times, I think we will all soon see modu.

In a serious note, these folks would seem to have lot of flash based memory experience amongst them. Stay tuned.

Its looks like a modular based cellphone. Its in the clock first, then in the car, in a handheld phone enclosure, then in the MID/Tablet, then in a macbook. looks cool. what would be awesome is if it was an express card, that way it would actually fit into the macbook pros. anyways, interesting.

Ah, a personal media device that fits SD Slots and will continue playing where you left off when removing it from a docking station, car, or other location.

Well, that's my guess anyway.

I think it is a Secure module with encryption which stores personal information and can plug into various sockets. ie cell phone/car/pc/ home automated products etc and also doubles as a mp3 player. What ya think ??

Perhaps the first Android device?

Well, maybe not.

The company (modu) is looking to fill a number of positions, including people with experience with Nucleus, Threadx and Embedded Linux operating systems. (Nucleus OS seems to be an embedded OS used in the mobile marketplace.)

The have a "Practical Engineer" position, which in part "Develop(s) the mechanical and plastic for new Consumer Electronics product which are related to the cellular world.The development will be done together with company's partners and customers."

Something mobile any way.

This looks like another one of those products that is absolutely amazing as long as we buy all the things that work with it while it works with absolutely nothing of what we already have.

I've got a better idea. Improve Bluetooth PAN so I only have to know where my cellular phone is. It can be my gateway to everything. Then I don't have to worry about wondering which device I left my modular Modu dohickey in last. :-)

Looks like a cell phone/ipod nano, that can sync various types of PIM data, through I am guessing add-on docking ports. In my opinion it's a little to niche to make it in the current smart phone market.

My vote is for a plug and play small computer, it would contain only the motherboard, CPU, memory, and possibly storage. It could be like a MID but it would matter what you put it into various docking stations which define its functionality. When docked into the home clock, it’s a clock/ MP# player. When in the car it uses the GPS hardware in the car for navigation and possibly MP3 playing (maybe even a cell phone.) At work attached to your Mac book there are a few things i.e. broadband card using the G3 data network or it could sync your calendar.
2 or 3 years ago I saw an IBM prototype, which would ‘dock’ into a laptop shell or desktop shell they had 4 or 5 different form factors which was really neat.

to me, its basically flash memory with a eink/oled/lcd clock on the outside. it stores all your personal data (contacts, calendar, music and so on) in predefined formats on said device, and can be read by programs and devices around the home, office and elsewhere.

nothing more to it really. in many ways its a very upscaled sim card...

I'm intrigued by this concept...

However, I can't help but think that the iPhone, together with its ecosystem of docks, already provides the same functionality!
