Dell XT Tablet PC to be released December 11

We have come to know quite a bit about the hotly anticipated Dell XT Tablet PC recently except when it will be released to the public.  A jkOnTheRun reader has informed us that Dell has confirmed that the Tablet PC will be released on December 11th.  So now you know.

Thanks William!

That December 11th date has been floating around a while now. Let's hope it's true - seeing the specs though, I'd like to have one in my hands to make the final decision.

Just another tablet PC. Why such a big deal in GottabeMobile and this site? Only few incremental improvements and its features are nothing innovative since R400.

Willy, two reasons.

1. It's a Dell and it's good to have another major OEM releasing a Tablet PC.

2. Dell's viral marketing campaign led us to expect some major innovations. I'm with you I just don't see them.

A lot of us "have to buy Dell" according to employer policy. Of course that is very ironic as I remember the days when the same was said about IBM. (remember them?)
For those of us that have to buy Dell, the availability of this tablet will enable growth of the tablet installed user base, which should stimulate development (hopefully) of ink-enabled applications, which should help even those tablet users who bought a brand other than Dell. All of my employees' notebooks will be replaced with the Dell tablet when their notebooks expire (warranty) in 2008.

Assuming Dell does actually release this computer, will it be available only online? Or at some of their new retail partners such as Staples, Best Buy and Sam's Club?

I've heard it's being sold through business channels which means online only.

The computer exists. The spouse of one of my employees knows this for sure and works at Dell.
