XV6800 finally arrives at Verizon Wireless
The agonizing wait is over for the XV6800, Verizon Wireless's successor to the venerable XV6700. You can find the "new" device online at the Verizon Wireless website for $349 with a two-year contract and $50 mail-in rebate. Of course, this is the same HTC phone as Sprint's Mogul which we saw some time ago, so if you're familiar with the Mogul, you already know many of the specs of the XV6700. In case you forgot:
- 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen (320 x 240 resolution)
- Windows Mobile 6 Professional
- 64MB RAM/256MB ROM
- WiFi (802.11 b/g), EV-DO, Bluetooth with support for the Wireless Headset, Handsfree, A2DP, Serial Port Bluetooth Profiles
- Slideout, QWERTY keyboard
- 2-megapixel camera
Although I've read mixed reviews, I personally had the XV6700 and it worked very well for me; even as a tethered or Bluetooth EV-DO modem. I don't see any specific information on the EV-DO inside the XV6800, so at this point, I'm not sure if it's EV-DO Rev. 0 or the faster EV-DO Rev. A. In either case, I suspect that using it as a Bluetooth modem should be easier due to the simple Internet Sharing process in Windows Mobile 6.

Kevin, I also have a xv6700 and besides the quirks of an older Windows Mobile 5.0 for PPC I like mine. What made you bail out and what did you go to. I know that this may be "old news" but Enquiring minds (or mind) wants to know!

Ron, I added a T-Mobile Dash to my phone stable first. That was simply to have a GSM account for GSM phone testing. After that I purchased an iPhone on AT&T. I still use the Dash with the AT&T SIM as needed because I had the Dash unlocked before closing my T-Mobile account. The XV6700 was sent off to CellForCash.com where I received $90 for it. I see that they're currently paying $108 for the Dash, but it's a great phone with an awesome keyboard, so I plan to keep it.

Kevin,
There is also a firmware update for the Sprint Mogul edition to resolve the miserable 2.16 update released last month.
It is available at:
