Panasonic Toughbook T7 touches down in the U.S.

Panasonictoughbookt7Panasonic has long been known for their rugged Toughbooks and the newest Tablet model is touching down in the U.S. next month. The Toughbook T7 will start at $2,099 and weighs a solid but portable 3.3-pounds. The 12.1-inch XGA display offers touch capabilities paired with an Intel GM965 for video. Under the hood you'll also find a 1.06 GHz Intel ULV Core 2 Duo and a gig of RAM, upgradeable to 2 GB. If you have a WWAN PC card, don't throw it out just yet as the T7 will have a PCMCIA slot along with an integrated SD card reader. 80 GB of storage capacity and a DVD Super drive (edit: optional external) round out the basics. Microsoft Windows Vista Business comes standard, but there is an option to downgrade to XP.

Panasonic expects a seven-hour runtime on the standard battery and also offers integrated HSDPA or EV-DO if I'm too late with the 3G PC Card warning. (You didn't really throw it out, did you?) Oh and don't forget you can be really sloppy around the T7. It's still a Toughbook, so it's spill resistant. Nab the rest of the specs in PDF form from Panasonic direct if you're the type that has soda cans all around your current Tablet. One interesting note: although this is a touchscreen model, I don't see a hinge that lets you rotate the screen into slate mode.

Correction to the article. T7 does not have built-in optical but instead a super big battery that gaves you up to 10 hours life. The W7 is the one that comes with built-in optical. However, T7 comes with touch screen! (no swivel hinge tough).

We are Panasonic Toughbook Premier Partner and I am one of their "Champion". So if you have any questions regarding Toughbook, please don't hesitate to email me.

Sweet! Thanks for the update Muliadi. Panasonic might want to update the product PDF because all of the specs I pulled (and the picture) came directly from it and the press release. I'll update the post accordingly...
