Google Maps: high-octane directions right from a gas pump

GooglemapsInteresting timing on this since I saw some 15-inch LCD screens atop a gas pump just last week. Google is going to bring their uber-useful map service to a place that probably needs it the most: gas stations. Special pumps for the U.S. market will be equipped with Internet connections, small screens and printers. Wayward travelers can punch in their destination and drive away with printed directions. No advertising and better yet, no gigunda, accordion-like maps that you can never quite fold back up just right. Or maybe that's just me.
