16 GB USB stick with PASS security

Elecompassusb

Here's an interesting security twist; probably old news but it's the first time I've seen it. PASS, or Password Authentication Security System, is how this 16 GB USB stick from Elecom keeps your data safe. Contrary to its name, it doesn't exactly use a password to keep prying eyes away for viewing the contents. Instead, you authorize which PCs can actually see the data on the stick, so if it wanders away to another computer, your data is unreadable. I don't see a price listed, but a quick translation of the press release shows different capacities, colors and support for Mac as well as PCs. I wonder if you can spoof a PC name to get at the data? Hope not...
