Portable Firefox catches up to desktop version: 2.0.0.8 available
Earlier this week, we made note of the most recent Firefox upgrade; the current version is 2.0.0.8 although I've already read on some sites that some regression errors slipped through the cracks. I'd expect a smallish update very soon as a result. Well, not everyone wants to run their browser on a physically local drive. Some like the security and portability of applications on a stick, i.e.: apps that you run off of a USB flash drive for example. This gives you peace of mind that you're not leaving data on the host PC.
In the Firefox 2.0.0.8 post comments, Melvyn asked us when Portable Firefox would be upgraded to the current version, so for Melvyn and everyone else wondering, the answer is: right now! Actually, it was upgraded two days ago, but that saying that would be much less dramatic. ;) Hop over to the Mozilla Firefox, Portable Edition site to top off your USB drive with Firefox 2.0.0.8.

Working out great. Just installed it on a USB EVDO modem (has microSD slot).
Added download status bar, Foxmarks, and Flash add-ons and it's good to go.
It's a bit slow loading up. Could be my card.

Good news, but Portable Firefox updates on its own, same as regular Firefox. Just click on Help then Check for Updates...

Thanks for the update - I'd given up checking the page (been looking since 2.0.0.7 was released) but thanks to JKOTR I can now upgrade.

Well it's now happened again. v2.0.0.9 was released one week ago. Not for the PortableApps version though. Who knows how many weeks or months we'll be using v2.0.0.8 Portable.
