Still no Apple credit for me; maybe I never bought an iPhone

Iphone_call Quick update on my iPhone credit issue: I'm still not eligible per Apple, because they still can't find record of my iPhone purchase. [Big hint Apple: check the numerous iPhone posts I've made here; I'm not pulling your leg just to get a $100 in your store. ;) ]

I still think the issue stems from the phone number tied to my phone. Upon activation, I was provided a new  AT&T phone number since I had no account with AT&T. Four weeks later, I ported my Verizon Wireless phone number to the iPhone, so I think the serial number of my phone is still tied to the old AT&T number. If that number has been recycled, someone else will be getting the credentials for my $100 credit, which is less than ideal to me. I did send an explanatory note to Apple with all of the details, per their request and they responded last night. The note I received indicated that I should try again because the serial number of my iPhone has been updated. Just tried and I still have the same issue, so per their instruction, I've responded via e-mail. Although this issue is likely to impact very few iPhone customers, I think it shows that the cellular market has some different complexities over selling music downloads. More to follow in 48 to 72 hours as that's the expected response time from Apple.

Apple store credit is available now!! Go to their site www.apple.com and you will see on the bottom left corner a small banner regarding obtaining the credit. All you need to do is to click on it and enter your phone number and serial number. I got mine!

Kevin - I was able to get my credit code the other night without any problems. I also activated my iPhone with a new number, then ported my Sprint number over two days later. I put in the serial number and my ported number, and I had the SMS message within 5 minutes.

I printed the certificate it gives you as a PDF, and now I have it on my iPhone email, in case I ever get the urge to buy something at the Apple Store.

While you wait for your credit to come through (I got mine no problems) don't forget, this is an excellent time to condition the battery on your iPhone. :-)

Kevin just send Steve a little note saying I want my credit... LOL I purchased the 8GB iPhone last week monday to use as a iPod only. I have also unlocked the iPhone and put a friends T-mobile SIM and works great to make calls. Reason I got it as a iPod is because it has the built in speaker sometimes you dont want to listen through headset so it plays out loud. Another advantage is having the camera when in Wi-Fi area you can also email a picture. Also dollar to dollar it comes with charger, and cradle the iPod Touch doesn't and doesn't also have Bluetooth.
