Palm officially unveils Treo 500v for Vodafone

Palmtreo500v_2 It's not a big surprise since we knew today would be the day and we've also seen countless pics of Palm's Galdolf handset, but it's here. What is it? It's the official Palm announcement of the Treo 500v! The device runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard Edition, so it doesn't have a touchscreen nor a stylus. There's no antenna nub, which is becoming a common (and welcome) design approach. The 500v runs on Vodafone's GSM network and does offer fast 3G/UMTS speeds for data transfers. A microSD slot offers memory expansion for the 150 MB of integrated RAM & ROM. The backside of the device holds a 2-megapixel camera.

I honestly wasn't sure I liked the form factor and design when I first saw pics of the early Gandolf, but it's growing on me. Anybody else feel the same or is the look just not doing it for you?

Not sure I like the look. Looks too business like. No fun/cool factor. Is this the first Palm device without a touch screen?

I didn't like the first mock up pics that were first released but now the device looks nice. My guess that this is supposed to be the Palm version of the motorola q. I think its a great idea. I just hope the price is also around $99.

Looks just like the rest of the smart phones pdas on the market. Everything now looks like a Blackberry.
Where is the innovation? This "design" is a definite look of a yesteryear. Sure it is an updated look for Palm but not for the competition as everyone already had devices doing things and looking like this long time ago.
Now on top of that loosing the touch screen... is this supposed to be a progress?
