BoxWave FlexiSkin for the Samsung Q1 reviewed

The kind folks at BoxWave just shot me a FlexiSkin review case for the Samsung Q1, so here's an under-nine-minute video overview. I have to thank ThoughtFix to getting me in touch with BoxWave; he was originally going to review this product for them, but he no longer has his Q1. Thanks Dan!

Overall, the $40 FlexiSkin complements the Q1 device series quite well. The cutouts are spot on and the case gives a little extra protection to all but the device screen. I found some minor nuances that I point out on the video, but when I say minor, even that's an overstatement. I'll add this accessory to the office pile of giveaways, so once we get through the WaterField Designs iPhone case contest, we'll see about giving up some BoxWave items.

Kevin, do you use a screen protector on your Q1? I've had my Q1 for 7 months and never used one. I do use the 3M cloth daily. It has worked well. Every week I wonder If I should get a protector.

Great little video review Kevin, I wish there was some similar third party stuff for the UX!

desilva, I do not typically use a screen protector on my devices. I don't clean my screen daily as you do but I probably should. ;) I'll have a follow up video on the two BoxWave screen protectors.

There is a big issue to me on this product that I mentioned when I reviewed.

The Status LEDs are covered by the skin.

desilva, check this

there you can see pictures that prove the advantages of using screen protectors.

I definitely recommend a screen protector. Especially for touch screens. My Q1's screen started getting scratched up on the right side of the screen, normally where I use the scrollbar. If I didn't put on the protector, the scratch would have expanded. Now, the screen protector itself is scratched up in the same area. So I'll probably be buying a new one soon.

It's true the LEDs are covered by the skin and I hope that BoxWave addresses that in the future. Personally, I pay little attention to the status indicators so it's a non-issue for me.

LED viewing depends on your skin as well. I have the white one on mine and the lights luminate thru it. Heres a real quick view on a vid I took at a local meet up with GBM team.

about 35 to 38 seconds you can see the LED's real quick but they are there and comming thru the skin!
