Amazon Unbox offers NBC premieres for free; carry and watch on your UMPC

Nbcchuck Want to catch an early look at four of NBC's television premieres a full two weeks before they premiere? No problem, just hit up the iTunes store. Oh wait a second: Apple and NBC are squabbling over content pricing, so that's no good. We'll have to resort to Plan B and hit up the Amazon Unbox video service. If you do, you'll see the following four NBC premieres available for a free download now: Bionic Woman, Chuck, Journeyman and Life.

I just ran the Amazon Unbox installation to see if this will work on my Samsung Q1P; it really doesn't meet the minimum system requirements, falling short of the 1.5 GHz processor but it did install and it does run. The 43-minute premiere was an 850 MB download but well worth the wait; it plays extremely well on my UMPC but of course, your mileage may vary based on your UMPC. You should have no issues on any modern notebook or desktop. If you don't see any posts from me in the 43-minutes at least you'll know why.

Bionic Woman is what I got. Katee Sackhoff(sp) who plays Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica is supposed to be on it. This is cool as I can see the pilot before it starts later this month.

Don't freak out, Kevin. (He'll get it, after watching.)

Get Journeyman too.

They all pretty much suck. Chuck has the original OQO in it though.

I just watched Bionic woman. La Femme Nikita meets Jake 2.0. The video transfered from my computer to my Archos704wifi and played without a problem. If it's free it's for me!

Typical problem. I happen to be outside the US right now. Although my Amazon account is US-based (CC, address, etc.), I can't actually download using a "foreign" IP address (I can buy, of course, I just can't "get" what I bought).

This really sucks for those of us who travel internationally. I want to keep up with the shows when I'm on the road -- not just when I'm on the couch. The Internet *should* be the perfect solution, but they won't let it work that way.

Oh well, maybe I'll find another *convenient* solution...

"Chuck" is geek-tastic!

Oh yeah, I'm watching it on a stock Q1 playing smooth as silk. Thanks for the tip Kevin!

Let's see... If this runs 15 episodes it will cost about $24USD to subscribe... Unless Amazon has hidden some self-destruct DRM in this I'd say they'll get my money. Only time will tell.
