HP Compaq 2710p Tablet PC exposed at FCC
Nothing like a good FCC search to whittle away the day before a holiday. Looks like the PC Joint folks are bored because they eye-spied the 12.1-inch HP Compaq 2710p Tablet PC in the not-so-fun-to-browse FCC site. Trust me, it's a chore. ;)
My eye was immediately drawn to the little flip-out antenna at the top right of the display; that's for using the optional integrated HSDPA or EV-DO wireless wan module should you choose it. I'll be curious to see how well the WWAN radio works when the antenna is not pulled out; I have visions of poking my gut when using this in portrait mode. Perhaps with more sit-ups, I'll be less concerned. Expect an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV CPU and anywhere from 1 to 4-GB of RAM in this 3.6-pound silver web-surfer. Intel integrated graphics are also on the inside as well as 802.11a/g/n (w00t!) and Bluetooth. I'm slightly disappointed in the 4200 RPM drive, but it's early yet so we may see better performing options when the device becomes available. Hopefully the missing trackpad is only on the test device as well....time will tell!

I played with a 2710p and was very impressed with it. Some of the mild specs are in the interest of longer battery life.
