Samsung Q1 Ultra: let the car mounting begin

Q1_ultra_car_mount

The Samsung Q1 Ultra hasn't even been in consumers hands for more than a few scant weeks and already the car mounting has begun. That may sound like inappropriate behavior for a UMPC, but attaching a full computer to your dash can be quite handy. Unless you like to web surf while driving, that is....

This pic came from the Yahoo! Q1 UMPC group: rvr_rnr cobbled this together from a RAM mount with some ProClip parts; there were some modifications made to the mount but the job looks well done to me!

cool - I've been meaning to do this with my R2H since its got the GPS. Right now it just kinda sits on the seat next to me...

Looks great. Wonder if he will take orders for them?

Actually, the Q1U still isn't in most consumer's hands because aside from the tiny intro stock and costco and buy.com at the end of May/start of June, it hasn't been made available. I hate mock release dates like that. *twiddles thumbs*

If you are referring to the mount the answer is no.

But if you would like a description of how I did it along with some photos, email me at thepcman@digital-rivers.com

I gave up the idea a long time ago...it's really too dangerous to mind it while driving in NYC. too many possible naive road kills here. especially in downtown area. I'm surprised gps are being installed into the dash... If there is one, it should be closer to the passenger side so just the navigator will mind it.
