HTC Mogul hits retail shops by mid-July with Sprint Music Store
Just a quick update since I'm moving slowly this morning; the long drive back from NYC last night was made longer due to torrential rain and storms. I'm going through my OneNote notes (which the usage of got more attention than some of the exhibitor booths) and just scanned some chicken scratch I took while chatting with Sprint.
The HTC Mogul, which is currently only available online and through Sprint's business channels, is hitting the Sprint retails stores in mid-July, or in about two to three weeks. Might be old news but that means you'll get to fondle your own HTC Mogul as a consumer soon. Tied in with the consumer / retail theme, the Mogul will gain access to the Sprint Music store during the same time frame to coincide with the retail availability. You'll be able to download your tunes right over the air on that EV-DO Rev A Rev 0 radio. No word on the Rev A upgrade availability, not even the British beer got 'em talking about that. Also: I liked the slide-out keyboard much better on the Mogul than on my comparable, but older XV 6700. The keyboard is either "in" or "out", there's no in-between as it appears to have some springs added to the sliding mechanism. Too bad it's not backlit....check our video review of it here.

The keyboard on the HTC Mogul is in fact backlit (I've had my Mogul for almost a week now). It has a light sensor (just above the "I" key) that will suppress the keyboard backlighting in anything but the darkest conditions. The light sensor can be turned off in one of the settings panels such that the keyboard backlight always comes on when you type.

That's good news Jordan. I was disappointed when I didn't see it on the device last night and I specifically pointed it out as a step backwards. The Sprint rep simply said, sorry no backlight. I'll chalk it up to bright lights in the venue and a bad answer. ;)

Great phone overall, although it does have the flaws inherent in most Windows Mobile devices. It's my primary device now and overall I am very happy with it, but it is a power user phone and not for the faint of heart.

There's a bunch of reviews and resources that might help you decide about buying the Mogul or help out if you've already bought one at http://www.SprintMogul.net
