On the road but still productive
It's 6:15 pm in my time zone and I'm sitting in a gym. No, I'm not working out (although I need to do more of that); Barb & I are here for Sydney's gymnastics class. This gym is run by a former Olympic gymnast and there's activity all around between the rings, parallel bars, balance beams and the floor. I brought Samantha, the Q1P, with me to read an eBook but thought to check for WiFi; sure enough, the gym has an open connection! Sydney gets to take her class and I've read through several hundred feeds and e-mails in the meantime. Barb gets.... uh.... um.... I should go now before she asks what I've been inking. :)
Update: due to the floor exercises, we often hear the same song over and over (and over...) here. A quick hop to the Zune Marketplace via WiFi just solved that problem. Mobile rule #17: always carry headphones with your mobile device. Corollary rule #17a: add a full DAP to the headphones at the "It's a Small World" Disney ride and carry a spare set of batteries.

Thats Awesome! Great use of a mobile device! I do my schools football statistics on my LE1600 and often hop on the rival schools WiFi network before the game. On the way back on the bus I listen to MOTR sn On The Run with Tablet PCs.
BS :)

Is this not a time when you should put away the technology and pay attention to the child? This reminds me of the pic I saw of Scoble at a Giants game with his son and he's got his MacBook out. If I'm wrong about this, please let me know.

Stephen, I realize you're seeing this post from a certain perspective, so let me clarify. The point of the post is that you can be productive while mobile, not to say "use a mobile device to avoid watching your kids activities". The gymnastics class that my fiancee's daughter attends has over a dozen seven-year olds in it, so quite often, many of the girls are waiting their turn on the apparatus. Rest assured, when our child's turn is up in line, I'm watching. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression and I hope this clarifies.
Oh, and it's Scoble's son using the MacBook at the game, not Scoble. Thanks for the link Blake. ;)
