HP awards $7m in grants, Tablet PCs to schools

What an awesome press release this was to read: HP has awarded over $7 million dollars in grants and equipment to 172 schools in the U.S. and Puerto Rico! The schools range from K-12 all the way up to four-year universities and the grants go to teams of five teachers. Teams at the K-12 level get a package worth $31,000 that includes: five HP Tablet PCs, five projectors, five digital cameras and printers plus a cash stipend to the teachers. Tablet PCs and faculty stipends go the to colleges as well; these packages are roughly around $68,000. Something tells me that most of that package is in the stipend. ;) Great stuff HP!

This is indeed exciting news. 7 million is no small amount even for corporate HP where the tablet division is not a huge pie for the company.
