Tekkeon MP1500: small, portable power for small, portable devices

Tekkeon_mp1500 On the road, I tend to charge my smaller devices via USB off of my main computing device. When I say smaller devices, I mean my phone, Zune, etc...since I tether these devices for broadband access or synching. That takes a hit on the computer battery; in my case, the extended battery of my UMPC. GearDiary just reviewed the Tekkeon myPower Go MP1500, which for $20, just might have to be my next purchase.

The MP1500 isn't a giant brick of a battery; it's just large enough to house the four rechargable AA batteries inside. Using a USB port and one of many adapters, you can charge up that MP3 player, phone, camera, Bluetooth headset and more. Not a bad device at this price and size...I'm sold and now I won't have to use up juice on the Q1P to charge the supporting cast!

James et al,

does it have enough juice in it to successfully charge up a FlipStart?

J, the MP1500 is geared towards smaller devices that use a 5V charge. It's not geared for laptops or UMPCs that have a higher power requirement. Those types of chargers are usually much larger, heavier and more expensive.

These devices are pretty common. Energizer sells a two cell version that is quite nice.

I have used a similar rechargeable AA battery chargers from Proporta for my Dell Axim x51v and one for my Sony Ericsson P910i.

I can't see the Proporta ones on their site anymore, (they now have a more versatile USB charger as tekkeon now have).

I am intending charging my devices from my notebook as it goes everywhere with me but may go for a USB charger for those few times when I am not carrying the notebook.

I have the MP3400 (up to 19v) and it's working good so far. I had to buy separately a tip that fits in the Samsung Q1 though.
