Windows Mobile 6: The Emulator Strikes Back

Windows_mobile_6_emulationStill trying to decide if Windows Mobile 6 is worth the wait? Canned demos are fine for the basics, but if really want to take a test drive, you'll want to check out this post that walks you through the steps to simulate a WinMo 6 device right on your PC. You'll need three files: the Device Emulator, Compact Framework SP1 and the Windows Mobile 6 SDK, all of which are yours free for the taking. Bear in mind that you need CF 2.0 to apply the service pack. Since my T-Mobile Dash will be getting an upgrade to the new mobile OS, I'm downloading the files now; might as well get a feel for my "new" device now. Hopefully the virtual playtime is worth the several hundred megs of download!

Update: although it's not mentioned in the source, it looks like you will need Visual Studo 2005 which might nix this for many....I found this out after downloading all of the files just now.
