Bluetooth 2.1+EDR: easier for devices to hook up

Bluetooth_logo
Oh, if only the online dating services made it this easy to pair up: I just caught wind of the new Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR spec announcement over at The Mobile Gadgeteer. Aside from the speedy transmission of Bluetooth 2.x, the two newest features are very welcome: improved pairing and lower power consumption. Based on this high-level information from the Bluetooth SIG, it looks like the devices do all the work for the pairing, unlike the dating scene when a wingman or wingwoman is often required. The new spec also mentions less power consumption for devices that comply with the new specification: up to five times more battery life on a Bluetooth device. Hubba, hubba: we heart Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR!
