Is that an HD camera in your pocket? Canon PowerShot TX1

Canon_powershot_tx1Yup, I'm such a sucker for anything related to HD, or high-definition. Still, when you can actually take 1280 x 720 (720p) video at 30fps on a camera retailing for $500, how can you not get excited? Canon's PowerShot TX1 lets you do just that, but it's not all a rosy picture. The downside to any high-def recording is the large storage capacity it requires: since the TX1 saves video uncompressed to an SD/SDHC/MMC card, you'll only get a scant 13 minutes of the best quality high-def for your personal production on a 4GB storage card.

Still, if you want a 7.1 megapixel camera with 10x optical zoom and face detection but don't need to spend upwards of a grand for an HD camera, this might be worth a look. Just keep those videos short, 'k?
