Linux on a USB drive, six flavors to choose
Running a live OS on a flash drive is a great way to try a new environment at relatively low or no risk. Chris Pirillo mentioned this morning that SourceForge now hosts no less than six flavors of Linux that can run directly off of a USB drive: DSL Embedded, Knoppix, PCLinuxOS, SLAX, MiniMe+ SLAX, and Ubuntu. If you've ever wanted to try Linux without using a drive partition, this might be worth a look!

you can also play with linux but inside windows with all kind of vmware appliances : http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/appliances/directory/cat/45
