How to encode videos for your Zune: Zunester
Although there aren't yet any videos in the Zune Marketplace, you can still watch content on your Zune if you know how. Long time Windows Mobile device users have utilized software for several years to shrink down your big screen videos to the small screen devices and the Zune is no different. Earlier this week I did try the SPB Mobile DVD application and sure enough, my Mission Impossible 3 DVD was quickly encoded into the 320 x 240 WMV format that plays like buttah on the Zune.
Are there other options and techniques? Sure there are and Zunester provides a nice walkthrough of the process using TMPGEnc Xpress. Why wait for the Zune Marketplace when you likely already have tons of video content?
There are free and near-free converters for iPod. Why is it so expensive to transcode/convert for Zune?

There are tons of choices out there, some free, some not. I encode high def TV shows from my Media Center to my portable devices for free with DCut, which is free. Maybe I'll gather up a list of choices for both the Zune and iPod in future post.

The version of TMPGEnc Xpress (v3) you linked to is discontinued. It seems there is a newer version available from the same website. Finding it is left as an exercise to the interested reader; I think at a cost of $100 I don't need to give them a free link ;)

I know this is the wrong site to do this but, I was wondering how to get videos on my zune. When i try to put one of my videos i have on my computer to my zune it says an error has occured what do i need to do to fix that.
