Zune phone in Microsoft's plans

Zune_and_logoIt appears that Zune as a platform just might be a bigger platform that initially thought. Brighthand noticed a Reuters story where a Microsoft Zune exec says "A Zune phone is definitely part of the future of this brand". Microsoft already has several years of experience in this area via the Pocket PC Phone and Smartphone editions of Windows Mobile 5.

Come to think of it: if the Zune player is based on Windows Mobile 5 as I've heard, could we see Skype or another VoIP client work on the player? If you've got the WiFi connectivity and the operating system that can support it, a VoIP client extends the social aspect even more. Hmm.....
