Nobody would buy an Apple Tablet PC? Say what?

Apple_20Tablet.jpgThat's what Jason O'Grady wonders at the tail end of an Apple Core post. Jason places his bets on different guesses for tomorrows Apple event; we did the same last week. I'd expect that some of Jason's ideas are closer to the mark now that he's got the "It's Showtime" theme to work from.

About that last comment though, Jason wraps up his post with: "I'd love to see a tablet Mac, but I'm not sure if anyone else would actually buy one, so chances are pretty slim". Oh Jason! We might be heavy Windows users, but that doesn't mean we don't want to ink on the forbidden fruit! I would love to add a Mac-powered device to my stable, but I can't justify it without tablet features. You folks have indicated interest in a Mac tablet too: the real question now is: why? And yes, we know the pic is a fake. ;)

Tablet Pc like ruggedized PC a limited niche. It's a nice business for a few vendors but you'll notice none of the amjor vendors have jumped on the PC bandwagon - just like only a few vendors sell ruggedized PC's.

Like Kevin sort of said before, if Apple would come up with a great TabletPC, they could pull the TabletPC out of the niche market and into mainstream. The main question would make a great Apple tablet, aside from being a OS X with inking?

None of the major vendors have jumped in to the Tablet PC area?
I would classify Toshiba, Lenovo, Fujitsu, and Gateway as major vendors, wouldn't you?

I would think a larger (15") slate tablet would make an excellent add-on to Photoshop for the many creative Mac users. Most 15" touch screens are $$$, so if Apple launched a full Mac with a responsive touch interface (pressure sensitive) they'd sell quite a few.

If those numbers would make it economic up in the air.

Regarding the article all I would do is smile.

A 15" tablet will be cool.

But you know what I think that a touch screen display is being launched.

Lets see what happens.

But if it does. I will be buying it and two of that cool 24" iMac.

It'd be a dream setup to have both a 24" iMac and a 15" tablet Mac in my home office, connected wirelessly and able to stream media (including movie and TV episode downloads, recorded TV, too) from the iMac to the tablet and/or a TV.
