How to: synch Google contacts and calander with Outlook on multiple devices

Syncflow2_1

Wow, there's mobile and there's MOBILE. This guide falls under the latter category and although it's a solution to a specific problem, it's very modular and can be used as much as or as little as you need. The anonymous author of //engtech wrote up a very detailed guide for synching up Google contacts and calendar items with multiple Microsoft Outlook locations; if that's not enough, the information is synched to an iPod and mobile phone as well.

ScheduleWorld seems to be the free central nervous system of this setup and sounds very effective and extensible. Again, your specific synching needs may vary, but there are definitely pieces to the puzzle in here for you. I'll stick with my hosted Microsoft Exchange server for now, but if I wasn't so dependent on Outlook, I'd be giving this a try.

Kevin, I would love to use an exchange server, however MailStreet told me the following, "Although Outlook is capable of this function, it is not suggested with Exchane services. Pop3 accounts and Exchange accounts are completely different. After time, these types of accounts tend to corupt the Outlook profiles. We suggest keeping the diferent accounts seperate; Pop3 vs. Exchange".

Will

Will, it's certainly up to each hosted Exchange provider to do as they see fit. However, one option you have is to forward all POP3 mail to your Exchange server. That's how I get all of my Gmail pushed to me on my mobile devices running Outlook.
