Bluetooth ActiveSync revisited- again and again and again

I have spent the past hour trying in vain to get Bluetooth ActiveSync (4.2) working between the XV6700 and Flash (Samsung Q1 SSD).  This was another hour I did not have to spare that I was forced to waste trying to get the connection working.  What makes me so angry about this is that it was working fine last night.  I have used both Bluetooth and USB connections with ActiveSync between these two devices frequently with no problems but this morning, kaput.  I go to connect via Bluetooth and nothing, nada, bupkis.  It just decided it wouldn’t connect anymore overnight while both units were off and sitting happily charging in their respective places.  Let’s recap– Bluetooth ActiveSync worked find for days since getting the Q1.  I have used it repeatedly every day for that time.  Today it won’t work.  Nothing I have tried yet has worked to restore the connection.  Both devices can see each other over Bluetooth.  The XV6700 will not indicate to Flash that the ActiveSync service is available.  Until the XV6700 tells Flash that ActiveSync is one of the allowed Bluetooth services the connection cannot be made.  I have reset both devices to no avail.  Unfortunately I do not have any additional time to spend on the problem so today I will go off into the big bad corporate world unable to quickly connect via Bluetooth.  Not a big deal you say?  It is to me because that means I can’t use the XV6700 as a modem via PDANet unless I stop what I am doing and connect the USB cable, wait for ActiveSync to connect up, and then get a web connection.  I hate ActiveSync.

i never had this problem before with my q1 and xv6700 but then again i didn't have active sync installed in my q1. sorry to hear about it man. hopefullly kevin knows what to do.

I have never gotten ActiveSync to work over bluetooth. RAS over bluetooth is pretty reliable for me on my XV6600. But I have to make sure that the device has not already established a data connection or else it won't work.

Feeling a little brave? Your timing couldn't have been any better. This just popped up over on the 4winmobile front page.

"Bink is reporting availability of ActiveSync 4.5 Beta 2.

"Changes in ActiveSync 4.5 Beta 2 help resolve issues related to setup, partnerships, and connectivity with the PC and Microsoft Exchange
In addition, it includes a troubleshooter utility that scans your computer and device to identify problems and offers information and corrective actions to solve them.""

Anyone want to load this and see if they've put the WiFi connectivity option in there yet? :<]

My guess is that it has nothing to do with the Q1 nor the XV6600. It`s funny that you wrote this because the same thing happened this week between my Dell X51 PDA and my notebook. I have been syncing with bluetooth with no problems until Monday morning. Nothing that Ive tried works : they just wont communicate anymore and activesync wont aknowledge them. Blame it on the software that is ActiveSync...

Hi, I've been experiencing similar issues with my M400 and Qtek S200. I attributed this to driver updating (from toshiba's site, obviously). I had everything working before. However, I used to have my old IBM R40 with a BT dongle with a Fujitsu Siemens Loox 410 PDA, older active sync (had windows mobile 2003 SE on the loox, I think), with no issues ever. Can you use the older active sync with windows mobile 5?

I have the same problem sometimes with my TC1100 and it normally turns out that the bluetooth serial port has been removed in winxp. Not sure why it happens, but it does. I normally just add it back in and wait for it to remove itself again next time.

James-

I am having the same problem with my 8125 and my TC1100, no Bluetooth ActiveSync synchronization. The strange thing is that the Q1 and the 8125 is still connecting with bluetooth. I also wanted to point out that although I am having these issues with ActiveSync and bluetooth, all my computers are still working and able to use my 8125 and i730 as bluetooth modems.

My issue at the moment is that ActiveSync is not accurately synchronizing my calendar and I am losing appointments with every sync. I am having to make a copy of the Outlook file before I sync just in case.

Good luck and let us know if you are able to resolve the issue.

Nicole

One of the things I have found is that ActiveSync will not allow serial port connections by default. You have to go into connection settings and change it to the port that your bluetooth gateway on your PC has configured for activesync.

Keith

I tried to connect my Ipaq via bluetooth and wifi. With little effort it succesfully connect to the router and gets to the internet. But no chance in syncing with the bleeding edge Activesync 4.5.

It really is kinda odd. 2 microsoft windows enabled device not able to talk to each other. I Never had any problem syncing my palm wifi enabled with Windows.

Thanks Microsoft for your great software :-p Another 500$ lost in the megacash making giant. (absolutly no sarcasm in this message)
