Verizon drops data charges for music downloads

We bash Verizon when they do stupid things (which is a lot) so it’s only fair we point it out when they do something smart that benefits customers.  Currently Verizon charges $15 per month for the subscription that allows customers to download music to their phones but that will end according to an announcement by the wireless carrier.  Customers will still pay the $1.99 price for each music download but you no longer need to pay the monthly subscription fee to have access to the downloads.

Don't forget the $1.99 price per song is a direct download to the handset. For $.99 you can download the song to a PC and transfer it to your phone, which I think is reasonable. Makes sense that the "instant gratification" of the direct download is more expensive and who the heck downloads enough music to make the $15 a month fee worth it? Thankfully, VZW figured that out! ;)

They probably didn't get a single customer to sign up for their $15 rip-off plan...

And maybe I don't have my priorities quite straight, but who on earth would want to pay $1.99 for a single song... instant gratification doesn't work for me when I feel like I am getting ripped off.

I suppose it works great until they cancel your unlimited data plan for exceeding their limits!

i can understand the whole instant thing.. when i first got a cell phone i was so happy to pay $2 to download a 10 seccond clip of "The Candy Shop"
