Outback Plus 6 released with Outlook 2007 support
I have written about Outback Plus many times on jkOnTheRun and it has always been one of the first applications I install on any new build or device. The program backs up and restores the Outlook and IE environment so when I get a new device I run a restore in Outback Plus and my new Outlook installation is a clone of my old one. It not only brings in all the data but also the customization including all my signatures, settings, Office dictionary customizations and junk mail filters in Outlook. The Internet Explorer data that it restores is complete with all my favorites, cookies, and links so a simple restore in Outback Plus and my new computer looks and behaves just like my old one. I have been using the program for years and cannot recommend it highly enough. Oh, I almost forgot, it will backup and restore Firefox settings, too, along with your Desktop and any files in My Documents you select.
I was delighted to receive an email from AJ Systems announcing a new version, Outback Plus 6 that now supports Outlook 2007! Very few upgrade announcements will make me as excited as this one did and I downloaded the evaluation version immediately. The new version can reside alongside an installation of an earlier version so you can test it safely without losing your old version. Let me tell you, this new version is even faster than the old one and backed up my entire environment (897 MB) in just 5 minutes and the compressed file was half that size. I can now take this onto any device and have an exact duplicate of my setup in just a few minutes. I don't use the included scheduler myself but those who prefer automation will appreciate the ability to set the desired backup interval and then forgetting about it. If Outlook is running at backup time Outback Plus 6 just shuts it down for the backup and then fires it back up when it's done. Backups can be password protected and AES encrypted for the utmost in security.
Like most backup programs you can selectively restore items if you want just a few items put back. Outback Plus 6 is $39.95 with a 50% discount for those upgrading from an earlier version. I'm upgrading, can you tell? Outback Plus is one of the very few programs that I recommend everyone using Outlook and either IE or Firefox to use.

if you use this program to backup other files as well, what is the process it uses?
I know that the microsoft synctoy will backup things that you have changed/modified/deleted, making the backup go much quicker and ensuring that you don't have duplicate files and things like that.
i've used backup programs that, when i went to recover from the data, it had EVERYTHING, even stuff i'd deleted off my computer and wasn't expecting (nor did i want it there) when i went back to recover my data.
does this work more like the synctoy in that when you do a backup it only replaces/changes things that have been changed/modified or deleted, does it just re-backup everything, or does it delete your old backup and replace it with a new one every time?

Ed, I believe it backs everything up. I don't use OBP for my document backups, just my online stuff.
