Ink-less Gadgets in the Vista Sidebar

Vista_notes_1Rob Bushway continues to kick the ink tires in the latest Microsoft Windows Vista build and Microsoft continues to disappoint with missed opportunities. The latest letdown is in one of the default, or built-in Gadgets: Notes.

The Notes Gadget is a great way to quickly jot a thought, fact, URL or what-have-you for later usage, but Notes is not an ink-enabled applet. Why put the Tablet PC inking function in most of the Vista editions only to have disgruntled tablet wannabe users get frustrated with ink support lacking in the most likely circumstances? My hope is that Microsoft rethinks their ink strategy in Vista and enables it in the areas that clearly warrant it.
