EVDO Rev A coming from Verizon
Nortel will begin supplying EVDO Rev A equipment to Verizon Wireless in Q3 2006, making the next generation EVDO service closer to release. EVDO Rev A supports maximum download speeds of 3.1 Mbps and upload speeds of 1.8 Mbps. The Q3 date implies the high speed service is just around the corner so Verizon customers might want to pay attention to any flyers you get in the mail from them.

I haven't really been paying enough attention here... does this require an investment in new equipment on my part, or just by the network?

Yes.

Oh well, that sucks. I guess I have to buy new equipment at full price too. HSDPA can't get here soon enough :)

CDMA Rev A. is faster than HSDPA, I would wait for Rev A.
