Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 released

The best speech recognition software for Windows XP just got better with the release of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.  DNS 9 comes in two versions, Standard for casual users and Preferred for business users.  This new version supports certain Bluetooth headsets which Nuance, the producers of DNS 9, claim is "convenient to use with a Tablet PC system".  Key features of this new version:

  • AMAZINGLY ACCURATE!
More accurate than ever before, Dragon NaturallySpeaking® 9 is often more accurate than typing. Dragon NaturallySpeaking never makes a spelling mistake, and it actually gets smarter the more you use it!
  • FASTER THAN TYPING!
Most people speak over 120 words per minute, but type less than 40 words a minute. Dragon NaturallySpeaking lets you create letters and e-mails about three times faster than typing by hand!
  • SO EASY TO USE!
You’ll be dictating letters, e-mails and surfing the web by voice right away! No script reading required to get started. We even include a full set of on-screen tutorials, and a Nuance approved noise-canceling microphone.
  • USE WITH ANY WINDOWS PROGRAM!
Use your voice to dictate, edit and control virtually any Windows application, including the full Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Corel® WordPerfect®.
  • NETWORK READY!
Use Dragon NaturallySpeaking from any PC on your organization's network, including a Citrix thin client.
  • BLUETOOTH SUPPORT
Use Dragon NaturallySpeaking with Nuance-approved Bluetooth headsets. Convenient to use with a Tablet PC system!
  • MOBILE
Dictate into any Nuance-certified handheld device for automatic transcription when you synch with your PC.
  • HANDS FREE
Dragon NaturallySpeaking is Section 508 certified to give people with disabilities complete hands-free use of the PC. The ideal tool to assist people with carpal tunnel syndrome or other repetitive stress injuries.

DNS 9 Standard is $99.99 and the Preferred version is $199.99 or the upgrade version $149.99.

Comments

I can't find any comparison between Dragon 9.0 and the voice software in windows xp. I use that on my tablet and would love to know if there is solid improvement using dragon, and if the Samsung Q1 can handle dragon plus Onenote.

The speech recognition in the Tablet PC is pretty good but DNS makes the user experience much better. It does things like optionally scan everything in Outlook and your My Documents folder to train the recognition engine using your own writings. The system command and control functionality is much better too.

So what are the two nuance-approved Bluetooth devices? Can't find this on their website.
