User written screen rotation utility for the Samsung Q1

The Samsung Q1 is the only UMPC available (so far) that allows rotating of the screen and there have been reports (Kevin has experienced it too) of the rotation occasionally having problems.  A Q1 owner (Boris) has written a utility in .NET 2.0 that allows rotating the screen to all four possible orientations and Boris claims it alleviates the problem that requires reinstalling the video drivers.  You can find the download and additional information here.

This is a great little app that I keep in the QuickLaunch Toolbar of my Q1 for easy access. Aside from working more often than the native Samsung / Intel based rotation app, it allows you to rotate in either direction or 180-degrees. The native rotation application only appears to rotate counter-clockwise meaning if you want to switch back to your starting orientation, you can have up to 3 screen taps.

Kevin, can you pass me that file. I can not download it to test it in my eo. All I get is an xml code when I click in the install button at that site.

was able to download here:

Once you download it, rename the file to URotate.exe

Works like a charm.

hey kev. about e reader. lets say i buy an eo. and lets say i use ereader. does ereader have its own feature to flip to portrait mode??

No dice; most apps don't rotate on their own, the OS and graphic drivers do the rotate and the apps re-render based on the OS.

i only asked that because windows picture viewer has that feature. and i think acrobat reader too.

Thank you Boris. One of the first things I'm trying with my Q1 (Slatester)is screen rotation and the Samsung app did nothing. Your App once I installed the .NET 2.0 Framework works great.

Acrobat Reader does provide rotate, and Microsoft's reader doesn't as far as I know. But I'm interested in native rotation of the Windows desktop. Separate monitor rotation software also exists but it's unlikely to handle the digitiser. That probably could be programmed with something like the macro tool AutoHotkey, but it would be an ambitious project and probably would put a similar twist on your mouse or other pointing device.
