Top ten most critical wireless and mobile security vulnerabilites

The Mobile Antivirus Researchers Association (MARA) has published a list of the top 10 mobile security vulnerabilites and if you felt all secure using your UMPC or smartphone out in public before you might rethink that after you read this list.  I recommend every mobile device user read this list and take precautions where you can.  A few of the problem areas on the list:

  • Wireless Zero Configuration
  • Bluetooth exploits
  • WEP weaknesses

Smartphone and PDA exploits:

  • Password encryption- some programs store them in plain text in the registry
  • VoIP- it's unencrypted for the most part
  • Lost or stolen devices
