UMPC perspectives: videos from Rob Enderle

EnderleRob Enderle from The Enderle Group has an ongoing series of analytical video discussions on the UMPC devices that's worth watching. So far, only two of the four videos are out, and both are less than two minutes in length. In the first discussion, Rob explains what the purposes and intent of UMPC devices are. The second video covers the flexibility of the UMPC device class and hits some of the recent thoughts we've shared here.

If you've got a few minutes, watch the videos, listen to Rob's thoughts and then share your opinions here. It's interesting to see what an industry analyst thinks instead of what mainstream media, reviewers and bloggers feel.

"It's interesting to see what an industry analyst thinks instead of what mainstream media, reviewers and bloggers feel." --Hey, that's a bit demeaning, isn't it? (Especially given Marc Orchant's thoughts about analysts in OTRwTPCs #20.)

It's not meant to be demeaning, but in hindsight, I don't think I worded my point very well. I think we have a large "us" vs. "them" scenario right now with UMPC reviews. MSM has largely panned the devices while bloggers have touted most of the good aspects. There are exceptions to each of course, but I thought the analyst opinions gave a fresh perspective. Instead of focusing on the nitty-gritty details, the videos focus on the device as a concept; something I believe that many people are missing.
