Paceblade Easybook P7 UMPC hits Europe in three weeks

Paceblade_p7 Although I think TabletKiosk handled their eo delay admirably, this news might not go over well here in the States. Looks like European mobile mavens will get their UMPCs in the form of the Paceblade Easybook P7 by the second week of May. Why would folks waiting for the eo care? Take a good look at the Paceblade P7 and you'll see that it's nearly identical in form and design to the TabletKiosk eo (and the PBJ SmartCaddie for that matter). If there's a design flaw that TabletKiosk is properly addressing with the eo, does the P7 share that flaw? If so, then there's going to be some grumbling across the pond; if not, will there be grumbling over here?

In any case, the P7 shares the same specs as the higher end eo: Via C7M NaNo at 1 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, 40 GB hard drive, 7-inch touchscreen at 800 x 480 native res. One big difference is the price: the Paceblade model sets you back almost 1,100 Euros, which is roughly $1,350 (US).

I had confirmation from Paceblade that this is the same device as the Eo. Maybe Paceblade were lucky and had not shipped early versions with the design fault.

Lets hope the recommended retail price gets quickly discounted!

Steve.

They HAVE to cut down on the price, because if they don't the UMPC's will just be another expensive toy for a very select group of people... Kinda like the uPC's.
