OneNote SP1 PowerToys have arrived

onenoteOneNote SP1 is now available for download and if you're a big OneNote fan like me you want to be sure and grab this quick. Note that if you've already installed the SP1 preview you must uninstall the preview, install your original OneNote, and THEN install SP1. Don't take shortcuts or you're guaranteed to garble your OneNote install.

Now for the fun stuff. PowerToys for OneNote are also here and I've been waiting for both of these.

Send to OneNote from Internet Explorer PowerToy lets you send whole web pages or selections from web pages directly to a note page in OneNote. The note appears on the Web Clippings tab. A OneNote button is installed in IE so you just tap a button and send. Sweet.

The second toy is the Send to OneNote from Outlook PowerToy. This toy lets you send emails in Outlook to OneNote pages. Both super useful. Thanks OneNote team!

This looks to be a great add on for Onenote! Thanks James.

P.S. how do I use a trackback?

Hey Brad. I think that trackbacks are between two blog entries. I'm not sure how you could use it from your site but I'm researching it. It seems to be a black art. :-)

alrighty then...I've seen it on other blogs too and always wondered what it was

Thanks for the heads up on this James. I haven't installed OneNote on my new laptop yet, but will this weekend, so I'll grab SP1 (I had the pre-release on previous laptop).

Although I've congratulated at PPCT on getting a slashdot link for your U-70 review, I'm still refusing to read it :) - I bought a Compaq laptop just last week, and I just refuse to find out from your review whether I should have gotten the U-70 instead. I'm glad you are liking it so well, though.

It's been a while since I've dropped by - just thought I'd say hi. Looks jkotr is doing very well and I'm pleased for you.

Take care,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce,

What Compaq did you get? My main system is a Compaq laptop and I love it! Thanks for the kind words.

James,

I got a Compaq 3240 with a 64bit Athlon AMD processor, built-in DVD read-write, 3.2MHz with 1.6 MHz front bus, etc etc. Fine machine - I am really loving it. I plan on giving my Toshiba laptop to my Mom, who is not yet computer literate, but since Dad passed away last year I figure I can load it up with lots of digital photos, Gospel Music, Christian ebooks and so forth, and that it will be a nice diversion for her. If it doesn't pan out for her, I'll turn around and give it to my oldest granddaughter.

Thanks again for the heads up on OneNote. I haven't yet taken full advantage of this fine software, partly because I can only use it at home - our company as Office 2003, but without OneNote. I bought Office 2003 and OneNote for home use and have a hard time understanding why my company didn't spend the extra dollars as it is a great tool. I do wish the PPC sync worked both ways, but ...

Take care,
Bruce

Thanks Bruce.

Brad, one of the coolest things you can do with the IE to OneNote PowerToy is capture items you want to post on your website. You know, items that aren't timely but you don't want to forget to post at some point. Sending the web page to OneNote captures all the graphics, links, and info right in ON so it's all there when you're ready to post your article. It is automatically put on it's own page under the Web Clippings tab. I am already using this a lot.
